Your students will love it! Mine did!
I had a student body of mostly English language learners that were reluctant readers, and I needed to put on a 3-week summer camp at several elementary schools. I was thrilled to find something that interested the students as much as other summertime activities! MARVEL comic books - I partnered with the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) and ABDO Publishing to get the hardcover books. Then I wrote curriculum to use with them. Yes, students spent 4 ½ hours each day Monday – Friday reading and learning with MARVEL comic books. At the end of the three weeks, each school hosted its own Comic Con. |

It was wildly successful!
The entire camp effort was wildly successful at ALL of the sites! Students eagerly attended and participated. They enjoyed reading the books. They excitedly created their superhero projects and even voluntarily took them home to work on them! Everyone attended the Comic Cons! No kidding! We had members of the school board, city council, library board, school administrators, SDCOE, ABDO, family, friends, and even the Mayor of the city. It was PR heaven! |
